Porto
In my opinion, one of the most romantic cities in Europe. Information about sightseeing, food, and shopping is abundantly available on the web.
Sintra
Quite popular for day trips from Lisbon, but I personally recommend staying at least one night in the small town. That way you can take your time hiking up to Moro Castle and Pálacio Nacional da Pena.
Lisbon
Miradouros – Viewpoints for sunset: Sao Pedro de Alcantara & Jardim do Torel
Porta do Sol: Go down the stairs next to the viewpoint to the painted arch leading to public toilets.
Boa-Bao: great pan-Asian restaurant.
Sagres & Alvor
Very south of Portugal at the Algarve coast. But compared to other cities in the region, they are quieter and more relaxed.
Personal recommendations: Beliche beach + Praia da Prainha

- Braga
How to get around:
- fly to Lisbon or Porto. International busses to and from Galicia, Madrid and Sevilla are available too.
- fast trains only connect a few cities. Buses are easier, more frequent & cheaper.
- BlablaCar safe version of hitchhiking when buses don’t run.
