Two things which often scare people away from visiting Japan are the language and the higher cost of living – especially for asian standards. While I am far from an expert in the Japanese language, I do have some tips on how to travel the country on a budget.

Japan’s greatest treasure
Though I got to see the snow monkeys during my first trip to Japan in 2018, I did not manage to jump in to the “Onsen” myself. Tattoo issues and hangovers successfully prevented Tina & I from visiting the public baths. So when I went back to Japan in 2019, I was determined to make it happen. And which place is better than the south western most main island Kyushu. It’s two big and still active volcanoes Aso & Sakurajima fuel the many hot spring resorts.
